Electoral Reform: Oluyede Submits Documentary Evidence to Tinubu

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, has submitted documentary evidence to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in support of ongoing efforts to strengthen Nigeria’s electoral process and enhance national security during elections.
The documents were presented during a meeting with the President as part of broader consultations on electoral reforms and measures aimed at improving the credibility, transparency and security of future elections.
According to reports, the documentary evidence outlines the Nigerian Army’s experiences during previous election security operations, highlighting operational challenges, lessons learned and recommendations for improving coordination among security agencies and electoral stakeholders.
The submission is expected to contribute to the Federal Government’s review of Nigeria’s electoral framework, with particular emphasis on preventing election-related violence, strengthening institutional collaboration and ensuring a peaceful democratic process.
The development comes as the Federal Government continues consultations with relevant institutions and stakeholders on reforms intended to improve the conduct of elections ahead of future electoral cycles. The Presidency has reiterated its commitment to supporting initiatives that promote credible, free and fair elections across the country.
