The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has indicated that more officers of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) could be arraigned as investigations into an alleged visa fraud syndicate continue.

The anti-graft agency disclosed that criminal proceedings are already ongoing against some immigration officers at the Federal High Court over alleged visa-related fraudulent practices. It added that further investigations are progressing and may lead to additional prosecutions in the coming weeks.

The EFCC also dismissed reports linking the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Immigration Service, Kemi Nandap, to the investigation. The Commission stated that she is not under investigation and has no connection with the cases currently before the court.

According to the Commission, the ongoing probe is focused on officers suspected of engaging in fraudulent visa processing and related offences. It stressed that the investigation is being conducted professionally and that anyone found culpable will be prosecuted in accordance with the law.

The EFCC urged the media and members of the public to verify information through official channels before publication, warning that inaccurate reports could mislead the public and undermine ongoing investigations. The Commission reaffirmed its commitment to combating corruption and ensuring accountability within public institutions.
