Fresh details have emerged from the ongoing trial of military officers and civilians accused of plotting to overthrow the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, with prosecutors alleging that the suspects developed a detailed operational plan targeting key government institutions and officials.

According to documents presented before the Federal High Court in Abuja, the alleged plot involved coded communications, proposed execution dates, logistics arrangements and the assignment of specific roles to participants. Prosecutors also claimed the suspects prepared a proposed transition structure that would take effect if the operation succeeded.

The prosecution further alleged that strategic locations, including the Presidential Villa (Aso Rock), the residences of senior security officials, military formations and airports, were identified as potential targets in the planned operation. Investigators said some of the accused were assigned responsibilities relating to intelligence, logistics and operational coordination.

The case remains before the court, and the allegations are yet to be proven. The defendants have the opportunity to respond to the charges through the judicial process, while the court is expected to determine the matter based on the evidence presented.
