American Jeffrey Guterman Says Atiku’s US Lobbying Will Not Stop Tinubu’s 2027 Victory

Retired American mental health counsellor Jeffrey Guterman has said the lobbying campaign reportedly initiated by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar in the United States will not prevent President Bola Ahmed Tinubu from securing victory in Nigeria’s 2027 presidential election.
Guterman argued that attempts to revive allegations relating to President Tinubu’s past legal issues in the United States are unlikely to influence Nigerian voters or determine the outcome of the 2027 election. According to him, elections in Nigeria are ultimately decided by Nigerians based on domestic political realities rather than foreign lobbying efforts.
He maintained that while individuals and groups are free to engage in advocacy or lobbying abroad, such efforts would have little impact on Nigeria’s democratic process. Guterman also expressed the view that President Tinubu remains politically competitive ahead of the next general election.
His remarks come amid heightened political activities and consultations ahead of the 2027 elections, with major political parties and opposition figures continuing to position themselves for the presidential contest.
