By Peace Erewunmi

Residents of Ohimini Local Government Area of Benue State are fearing that several people have been killed, while about 30 others remain missing, following a fresh attack by suspected armed herders on communities in the area. The assault reportedly forced many residents to flee their homes as gunmen invaded the affected communities.

According to community sources, the attackers stormed the area, shooting indiscriminately and causing widespread panic. While the exact death toll has not been officially confirmed, local residents said many people are still unaccounted for, raising fears that the casualty figure could increase as search efforts continue.

The latest attack has displaced several families, with survivors seeking refuge in neighbouring communities. Residents have appealed to the Federal Government and security agencies to deploy more personnel to the area and intensify efforts to rescue those reported missing.

Security agencies have reportedly been deployed to the affected communities, while efforts are ongoing to restore calm and locate missing persons. The incident adds to the series of deadly attacks that have continued to affect parts of Benue State in recent weeks, prompting renewed calls for stronger security measures to protect vulnerable communities.
