By Erewunmi Peace
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed optimism that 2026 will mark the beginning of a more robust phase of economic growth for Nigeria, following economic reforms implemented by his administration.
The President stated this in his New Year message to Nigerians on Wednesday, where he reviewed the state of the nation’s economy and outlined expectations for the coming year.
According to Tinubu, key economic indicators in 2025 showed signs of improvement, including increased government revenues, improved foreign exchange stability, and renewed investor confidence, laying the foundation for stronger growth in 2026.
He noted that the reforms undertaken by his administration, particularly in fiscal management, infrastructure development, and social investment programmes, were beginning to yield positive results.
The President also reaffirmed his government’s commitment to creating jobs, strengthening local industries, and improving the standard of living of Nigerians, stressing that sustained economic discipline would be required to achieve long-term prosperity.
Tinubu urged Nigerians to remain patient and supportive of ongoing reforms, assuring them that his administration remains focused on delivering inclusive growth and national development.
