The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has intercepted a consignment of cocaine destined for the United Kingdom and arrested a Lagos-based businessman allegedly linked to the attempted drug trafficking operation. The seizure forms part of the agency’s ongoing crackdown on transnational drug syndicates.

According to the NDLEA, the illicit drug was discovered during a routine cargo screening operation after officers identified suspicious consignments prepared for export. Further examination led to the recovery of cocaine carefully concealed to evade detection by security operatives.

The agency disclosed that investigations led to the arrest of a businessman in Lagos believed to be connected with the shipment. Preliminary findings indicate that the suspect is assisting investigators as efforts continue to identify and apprehend other members of the trafficking network.

Chairman and Chief Executive of the NDLEA, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd.), commended the officers involved in the operation and reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to disrupting drug trafficking networks operating within and outside Nigeria. He warned that individuals involved in the illicit drug trade would continue to face the full weight of the law.

The NDLEA urged members of the public to remain vigilant and support the agency by providing credible information that could help prevent drug trafficking and other related crimes across the country.
