The Oyo State Rule of Law Enforcement Authority (OYRLEA) has carried out enforcement operations in Iseyin, where it impounded livestock found violating the state’s anti–open grazing regulations.

The operation is part of ongoing efforts by the Oyo State Government to enforce the Open Rearing and Grazing Regulation Law, which prohibits the unrestricted movement of livestock across public spaces and farmlands.

According to reports, enforcement officers moved into the area following observed breaches of the law and impounded several animals in the process.

The agency said the enforcement is aimed at addressing recurring issues of farmer–herder clashes, crop destruction, and illegal grazing activities across the state.

Officials of the Oyo State Government have maintained that the law is designed to promote peaceful coexistence between farmers and herders while protecting agricultural investments.

Stakeholders have continued to call for compliance with the regulation, noting that adherence to the law is key to reducing tensions in rural communities.

As of the time of filing this report, the affected livestock owners were expected to comply with stipulated procedures for possible resolution of the matter.
