Lagos Demolishes 17 Buildings, Seals 52 Others Over Planning Violations

The Lagos State Government has demolished 17 illegal structures and sealed 52 others across different parts of the state for violating physical planning regulations.
The enforcement exercise was carried out as part of ongoing efforts by the state government to ensure compliance with approved building plans and maintain order in the rapidly expanding urban environment.
According to officials, the affected structures were identified after inspections and investigations into reported cases of illegal development and breaches of building regulations.
The government explained that the actions are part of broader measures to curb unapproved construction activities, improve safety standards, and prevent environmental and structural risks associated with illegal buildings.
Residents and property developers have been advised to always obtain necessary approvals from relevant planning authorities before embarking on construction projects.
The Lagos State Government reiterated its commitment to enforcing urban planning laws while also promoting sustainable development across the state.
It added that monitoring and enforcement activities will continue in different parts of Lagos to ensure full compliance with physical planning regulations.
