The Ondo State Police Command has arrested three suspected drug dealers during a patrol operation in Akure, recovering substances suspected to be cannabis, tramadol capsules, codeine syrup and Tutolin syrup. The arrests were made as part of the command’s ongoing campaign against illicit drug trafficking and related crimes.

The suspects were identified as Fisayo Adedamola, Adeola Oluwaseun, and Adeogun Olumide. They were apprehended on July 24 by operatives of the Command’s Anti-Cultism Squad during a strategic confidence-building patrol within the Akure metropolis.

Police spokesperson DSP Abayomi Jimoh said a thorough search conducted during the operation led to the recovery of suspected illicit drugs and pharmaceutical products commonly abused. The recovered items have been secured as exhibits while the suspects remain in police custody.

According to the police, investigations are ongoing to determine the source of the drugs, identify possible accomplices and dismantle any criminal network connected to the suspects’ activities. The suspects will be charged to court upon the conclusion of the investigation.

The Commissioner of Police, Felix Ohagwu, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to tackling illicit drug trafficking, noting that drug abuse fuels crimes such as cultism, armed robbery and other violent offences. He also urged members of the public to provide credible information that would assist the police in identifying and apprehending those involved in the illegal drug trade.
