We’ll Protect JAMB’s Integrity, Intensify Fight Against Malpractice — New Registrar
By Peace Erewunmi
The newly appointed Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Professor Segun Aina, has pledged to uphold the integrity of the examination body and intensify the fight against examination malpractice, promising to deploy every lawful measure to protect the credibility of Nigeria’s tertiary admissions system.
Speaking during the official handover ceremony at JAMB’s headquarters in Bwari, Abuja, Aina said integrity would remain the cornerstone of the Board’s operations. He stressed that every candidate must earn admission through merit, hard work and honesty rather than fraud or undue influence.
The new registrar issued a stern warning to examination malpractice syndicates, impersonators, certificate forgers, corrupt CBT centre operators and anyone seeking to compromise JAMB’s processes. He vowed that the Board would deploy technological, administrative and investigative tools to detect, deter and prosecute offenders in accordance with the law.
Aina also promised to strengthen collaboration with security agencies and invest in advanced technology and global best practices to stay ahead of fraudsters. According to him, protecting the integrity of JAMB is essential to preserving public confidence in Nigeria’s education system and ensuring fairness for all candidates.
In addition to tackling malpractice, the registrar said his administration would simplify JAMB’s processes, improve service delivery and build a more transparent, technology-driven and citizen-focused institution. He noted that behind every registration number is a young Nigerian with aspirations, making it imperative for the Board to maintain the highest standards of accountability and professionalism.
Professor Aina formally assumed office on August 1, 2026, succeeding Professor Is-haq Oloyede, whose decade-long tenure was widely recognised for introducing reforms that transformed JAMB through improved transparency, digital innovation and accountability.
