The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, has donated ₦100 million and a brand-new Toyota Hilux vehicle to support the Iru Ekun Security Network, a community-based security outfit established by Yoruba Nation advocate, Chief Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho. The donation was announced during a courtesy visit by Igboho and members of the security outfit to the Ooni’s Palace in Ile-Ife, Osun State.

The monarch described the Iru Ekun Security Network as a timely initiative designed to complement existing security efforts in protecting lives and property across Yoruba communities. He commended Sunday Igboho for what he described as his courage, resilience and commitment to the security and welfare of the Yoruba people.

According to the Ooni, protecting lives is a collective responsibility that transcends political, religious and ideological differences. He urged traditional rulers, business leaders, professionals and other prominent Yoruba sons and daughters at home and abroad to support genuine community security initiatives aimed at promoting peace and stability across Yorubaland.

Responding to the gesture, Sunday Igboho expressed appreciation to the Ooni, describing him as a father figure to the Yoruba people worldwide. He said the visit was also to brief the monarch on the activities of the Iru Ekun Security Network and seek his continued guidance, prayers and royal endorsement.

Igboho also disclosed plans to convene a summit of Yoruba traditional rulers to discuss practical solutions to security challenges facing the region. He reaffirmed that the Iru Ekun Security Network would continue to operate within the law while collaborating with security agencies and local communities to enhance intelligence gathering and community policing across Yorubaland.
