Moniepoint CEO Raises Concerns Over Talent Gap, Cites Hiring Challenges

By Erewunmi Peace

The Chief Executive Officer of Moniepoint, Tosin Eniolorunda, has raised concerns about a growing talent gap in Nigeria, highlighting difficulties in filling key roles within his company.

Eniolorunda noted that despite the country’s reputation for having a large pool of talented individuals, recent hiring experiences suggest deeper challenges affecting workforce readiness.

According to him, the company currently has hundreds of job vacancies, particularly in technical and senior-level positions, which have proven difficult to fill due to a shortage of suitably qualified candidates.

He attributed the situation to a combination of factors, including gaps in education and skills development, as well as the migration of skilled professionals to opportunities abroad.

The remarks have sparked debate among stakeholders, with some agreeing that there is a mismatch between available skills and industry demands, while others argue that Nigeria still has a strong talent base that needs better opportunities and support.

Eniolorunda later clarified that his comments were focused mainly on the availability of high-level technical talent, rather than a general assessment of all Nigerian workers.

Industry observers say the discussion highlights the need for stronger investment in education, training, and workforce development to meet the demands of a rapidly evolving digital economy.

Further reactions are expected as conversations around talent development and employment continue across the country.
