Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has congratulated Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke on his re-election and applauded him for publicly reaffirming his support for President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid.

Adeleke, who was declared the winner of the August 15 Osun governorship election, renewed his support for Tinubu during his victory speech on Sunday.

The governor thanked President Tinubu for what he described as the Federal Government’s support for a free and fair electoral process in Osun State and reaffirmed his earlier endorsement of the President for a second term.

Reacting to the development, Keyamo described Adeleke as a “man of principle” and stressed the importance of keeping political commitments.

“Agreement is agreement,” the minister said in his reaction to the governor’s renewed endorsement.

Adeleke Reaffirms Support for Tinubu

Adeleke’s renewed endorsement comes shortly after he secured another four-year term as governor of Osun State.

The Accord Party candidate defeated the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, in the closely contested election.

Following his victory, Adeleke extended an olive branch to his opponents and called for unity across the state.

He also maintained his support for Tinubu’s bid to remain in office beyond 2027.

Adeleke’s Camp Denies Political Deal

Keyamo’s comment, however, has sparked a fresh political conversation about the relationship between Adeleke and the President.

The Imole Campaign Council, which supported Adeleke’s re-election, has denied that the governor’s endorsement of Tinubu was based on any political agreement.

The council said Adeleke’s support for Tinubu was based on the governor’s assessment of the President’s performance and his handling of the Osun election.

It rejected suggestions that there was a political bargain between the two leaders ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

2027 Politics

The development has added another dimension to the emerging political alignments ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Adeleke’s victory in Osun came against the APC, the party led by President Tinubu, making his subsequent endorsement of Tinubu particularly significant.

While Keyamo’s “agreement is agreement” remark has fuelled speculation about a political understanding between the two camps, Adeleke’s representatives insist that there is no such deal.

For now, Adeleke has publicly maintained his support for Tinubu’s second-term bid, while his camp continues to deny that the position is the product of any political agreement.

The development is likely to remain a subject of political discussion as parties and political actors begin positioning themselves ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
