The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Ademola Adeleke of the Accord Party the winner of the 2026 Osun State governorship election.

Adeleke secured 511,067 votes to defeat his closest challenger, Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who polled 444,815 votes.

The Accord candidate won the election with a margin of 66,252 votes.

The declaration followed the collation of results from all 30 local government areas of the state.

Adeleke Wins 19 LGAs

According to the final results announced by INEC, Adeleke won in 19 of Osun State’s 30 local government areas, while Oyebamiji won 11 LGAs.

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate, Najeem Salam, finished third with 17,180 votes.

Adeleke’s victory means the incumbent governor has secured another four-year term in office.

Final Results

• Ademola Adeleke — Accord: 511,067 votes
• Bola Oyebamiji — APC: 444,815 votes
• Najeem Salam — ADC: 17,180 votes

The election was held on Saturday, August 15, across the state’s 30 LGAs.

INEC subsequently completed the collation of results before declaring Adeleke the winner and returning him as the duly elected governor of Osun State.

The result brings to an end weeks of intense campaigning and political competition involving Adeleke, Oyebamiji and other candidates.

Adeleke’s victory also means the Accord Party will retain control of the Osun State Government following the 2022 election that brought him into office.

The declaration is expected to trigger reactions from the various political parties and candidates as attention now turns to the transition and the governor’s next four years in office.
