Dangote Refinery Reduces Cooking Gas Price to ₦760 per Kilogram

By Erewunmi Peace
In a major relief for Nigerian households, the Dangote Petroleum Refinery has announced a reduction in the ex-depot price of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), commonly known as cooking gas, from ₦810 to ₦760 per kilogram.
The move, confirmed by reports from PM News Nigeria and Legit.ng, is expected to ease the financial burden on consumers and bring down the retail cost of cooking gas across the country in the coming weeks.
According to refinery sources, the price adjustment is part of Dangote’s efforts to support government initiatives aimed at stabilizing the energy sector and making clean energy more affordable for Nigerians. The refinery also noted that the price cut aligns with its broader goal of improving local energy supply and reducing dependence on imported LPG.
Industry experts have welcomed the development, saying it could lead to a gradual reduction in household energy costs. However, they also cautioned that the final retail prices may vary, depending on transportation costs, dealer margins, and regional supply differences.
The Dangote Refinery, which began operations earlier this year, has been instrumental in driving competition in Nigeria’s petroleum sector — with its fuel and gas output gradually impacting market prices nationwide.
While distributors are expected to adjust their rates in the coming days, consumers have been advised to purchase LPG from verified dealers to avoid overpricing or adulterated products.
