Insecurity: Presidential Aide Declares Nigeria Out of Danger Zone

By Erewunmi Peace

A senior aide to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has stated that Nigeria has exited the “jeopardy zone” in terms of security, signaling a significant improvement in the fight against insecurity across the country.

Speaking during an appearance on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily, the Special Adviser on Media and Communication emphasized that the country is no longer experiencing the level of threat seen during the peak of the Boko Haram insurgency and other severe security challenges.

“We have seen an improvement in the issue of security; I think we have left the jeopardy zone,” he said.

According to the presidential aide, security agencies have recorded notable successes in recent months, and the federal government remains committed to restoring peace nationwide.

Context

The aide acknowledged that while kidnapping, banditry, and communal clashes still pose challenges, the overall security architecture has improved compared to previous years when vast territories were under the control of insurgents.

He also stressed the importance of strong institutions in combating insecurity and ensuring justice for victims of rights violations.

Public Reactions

The statement has sparked mixed reactions, with some Nigerians applauding the progress, while others insist that insecurity remains a major concern in rural communities and highways.
