Suspected Gun Runner Arrested as Police Uncover Adulterated Beverages in Delta

The Delta State Police Command has announced the arrest of a suspected gun runner and the recovery of live ammunition, while also uncovering a warehouse containing beverages suspected to be adulterated in separate operations across the state.
The command said the operations were carried out in Agbor and Warri, resulting in the arrest of two suspects and the recovery of ammunition and suspected adulterated drinks.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, operatives of the Special Anti-Kidnapping Unit (SAKU), Ubulu-Uku, acting on credible intelligence, arrested a 28-year-old woman identified as Happiness Clifford in Agbor, Ika South Local Government Area.
The suspect was allegedly arrested in connection with gun-running activities.
Police said a search of her suspected hideout led to the recovery of 10 live cartridges concealed inside a bucket.
During preliminary investigation, the suspect allegedly identified her husband, Clifford Okoro, as a major supplier of the ammunition.
The police said efforts had been intensified to arrest Okoro, while investigation continues into the source and intended destination of the ammunition.
Police Intercept Suspected Adulterated Drinks
In a separate operation in Warri, operatives of SAKU intercepted a Toyota Sienna allegedly conveying quantities of a product identified as “Gbefun Hot Drink,” which the police suspected to be adulterated.
The vehicle was intercepted on August 17, 2026, during a stop-and-search operation along the Warri–Agbarho Expressway.
The 44-year-old driver was arrested, while further investigation reportedly led police officers to a warehouse in Lower Ginuwa, Warri.
Police said additional quantities of the suspected adulterated drink and other beverages were recovered from the warehouse, alongside a Suzuki Shuttle bus loaded with similar products.
However, the suspected operators of the warehouse reportedly fled after sighting the police.
The command said efforts were ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspects and determine the source, production process and distribution network of the suspected adulterated beverages.
Police Commissioner Orders Further Investigation
The Commissioner of Police in Delta State, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, commended the officers involved in the operations and directed that investigations into both cases be conducted thoroughly.
He also ordered the operatives to intensify efforts to apprehend other suspects linked to the alleged offences.
The police urged members of the public to continue providing credible and timely information that could assist security agencies in preventing crime and protecting communities.
The latest operations form part of ongoing efforts by the Delta State Police Command to tackle arms trafficking, kidnapping and other criminal activities while also preventing the circulation of products suspected to pose risks to the public.
