Former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, has congratulated former Zamfara State Governor and Senator representing Zamfara West, Abdulaziz Yari, following his appointment as Director-General of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council for the 2027 election.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu appointed Yari as Director-General of the campaign council as the ruling party begins preparations for the 2027 presidential election.

The composition of the APC Presidential Campaign Council was announced on Saturday, August 22, 2026, by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy.

Fani-Kayode, in his reaction, described Yari as his friend and brother while congratulating him on the appointment.

“A hearty congratulations to my friend and brother Senator Abdul Aziz Yari, the Marafan Sokoto, for his appointment as the Director General of the Tinubu/Shettima Campaign Organisation for the 2027 election,” Fani-Kayode said in a post shared on social media.

Yari, who has accepted the appointment, expressed gratitude to President Tinubu and the APC leadership for the confidence reposed in him.

He said he accepted the responsibility with “deep gratitude and full seriousness,” adding that the campaign would be about engaging Nigerians across states, languages and faiths on the future of the country.

Yari also pledged to run the campaign with discipline, unity and respect for Nigerians.

He said the APC would seek to earn the confidence of Nigerians through its record in office and called on citizens across political divides to choose progress over division.

Under the new structure, President Tinubu will serve as Chairman of the Presidential Campaign Council, while Vice President Kashim Shettima will be Vice-Chairman I.

APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda was named Vice-Chairman II, while Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma was appointed Secretary.

Former Senate President Adams Oshiomhole will serve as Deputy Director-General in charge of mobilisation, while President Tinubu’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, will serve as Deputy Director-General for Administration.

Other notable members of the council include Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin, Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas, former Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and former FCT Minister Nasir El-Rufai.

The development marks a major step in the APC’s preparations for the 2027 presidential election, with the campaign council expected to coordinate the party’s nationwide mobilisation and electoral activities.
