NANS CONVENTION: OSUN POLY STUDENT STABBED TO DEATH IN OSOGBO

By Peace Erewunmi

A student of the Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, Ademiju Ayeni, has reportedly died after sustaining a stab wound in Osogbo, Osun State.

Ayeni, a student of the Department of Estate Management, was said to have been involved in a disagreement with some individuals around the venue of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Joint Campus Committee convention.

Reports indicated that the disagreement was initially resolved, but the deceased later complained of chest pain. He was subsequently examined and found to have sustained a stab wound.

Ayeni was rushed to a private hospital in Osogbo, where he was confirmed dead.

The Osun State Police Command confirmed that it was aware of the incident, adding that an autopsy would be conducted to establish further details surrounding his death.

However, conflicting accounts have emerged regarding the circumstances of the incident. While some reports claimed the stabbing was connected to the NANS convention, the NANS South-West Zone D leadership maintained that no one was killed during the official proceedings of the convention, stating that the incident occurred after the event had ended.

The NANS South-West Coordinator also described the incident as cult-related, although the identity of the alleged perpetrator has yet to be confirmed.

As of the time of filing this report, the police had not confirmed any arrest in connection with the incident, while investigations were ongoing.
