Oyebamiji Congratulates Adeleke on Election Victory, Demands End to Post-Election Killings

By Peace Erewunmi

The candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the August 15, 2026 Osun State governorship election, Bola Oyebamiji, has congratulated Governor Ademola Adeleke on his re-election victory.

Oyebamiji extended his congratulations while addressing APC leaders, members and supporters in Osogbo, describing the gesture as one made in the spirit of democracy following the declaration of the election result.

However, the APC candidate expressed concern over reports of violence in the state after the election, including alleged killings, harassment and intimidation of party members and supporters.

He called on Governor Adeleke, as the Chief Security Officer of the state, to take necessary steps to protect the lives and property of all residents, particularly during the sensitive post-election period.

Oyebamiji also condemned reported attacks on innocent citizens and businesses, including allegations that some small and medium-sized enterprises had been targeted because of the perceived political affiliations of their owners.

According to him, ensuring security and maintaining a peaceful environment are essential for the state’s economic growth, investment and employment opportunities.

The APC candidate urged party members not to be discouraged by the outcome of the election, but to remain united and committed to the party’s future political activities.

He also expressed appreciation to President Bola Tinubu and other APC leaders for their support before, during and after the governorship election.
Oyebamiji’s concession comes about two weeks after the Independent National Electoral Commission declared Adeleke the winner of the August 15 governorship election.
