Ododo Woos Audu’s Son, Seeks APC Unity in Kogi

Kogi State Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo has intensified efforts to strengthen unity within the All Progressives Congress (APC) following a meeting with Prince Mohammed Audu, son of the late former governor of the state, Prince Abubakar Audu.
Ododo paid a courtesy visit to Mohammed Audu at his residence, where discussions centred on the development of Kogi State, economic growth and the welfare of residents.
The meeting also provided an opportunity for both political figures to discuss reconciliation and the need for stronger cooperation among stakeholders within the APC ahead of the 2027 general elections.
According to the Kogi State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Femi Fanwo, Ododo and Audu explored ways of strengthening the state’s economy through increased agricultural production and the development of the cashew value chain.
Fanwo said the discussions formed part of the governor’s broader consultations with stakeholders aimed at expanding economic opportunities, supporting farmers and creating greater value from Kogi’s agricultural resources.
Mohammed Audu expressed his readiness to work with the governor to attract more development to the state, stressing the importance of cooperation among stakeholders.
He commended Ododo for visiting his residence, describing him as the first serving governor of Kogi State to do so.
Audu also appreciated the governor for organising the 10th anniversary commemoration of his father’s death and naming a road after the late former governor, Prince Abubakar Audu Boulevard.
He further thanked former Governor Yahaya Bello for renaming Kogi State University, Anyigba, as Prince Abubakar Audu University, Anyigba, describing the gesture as a lasting honour to his family.
The meeting also focused on reconciliation and strengthening relationships among political stakeholders in the state.
Audu urged Governor Ododo to sustain his reconciliatory efforts, noting that his engagements were already producing positive results.
Fanwo added that the governor’s consultations were also aimed at mobilising broad support for the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and strengthening the APC in Kogi State ahead of the 2027 general elections.
