By Peace Erewunmi
Security authorities have announced that three individuals identified as members of an insurgent group surrendered to troops during ongoing operations in Yobe State.
According to military sources, the individuals included two persons described as commanders and another identified as a bomb specialist.
Officials said the surrender occurred during intensified counterinsurgency operations aimed at restoring peace and improving security across affected communities in the North-East.
Authorities stated that the individuals are currently undergoing screening and debriefing processes as part of established security procedures.
Military officials noted that recent operations have focused not only on security enforcement but also on encouraging defections and reducing armed activity in conflict-affected areas.
Security analysts say surrender and rehabilitation processes can contribute to broader stabilization efforts when combined with community support and accountability measures.
As of the time of filing this report, authorities had not publicly released further details regarding prosecution outcomes or long-term reintegration decisions.
