Two of Four Kidnapped Rice Farmers Reportedly Killed by Terrorists in Kwara’s Edu LGA

By Erewunmi Peace

Two of the four rice farmers abducted by armed men in Bokungi Village, Edu Local Government Area of Kwara State, have reportedly been killed by their captors. The victims were among four farmers kidnapped earlier in the week while working on their rice fields.

Community sources said the attackers, described as suspected terrorists or bandits, struck in broad daylight, shooting sporadically before whisking the farmers into the bush. Reports from the community indicate that two of the victims were later found dead, heightening fear and tension across the area.

The fate of the remaining two kidnapped farmers remains unknown as families and residents continue to wait anxiously for updates. As of the time of this report, there has been no confirmed contact from the kidnappers and no ransom demand has been officially reported.

Security agencies have reportedly been deployed to the area, with authorities assuring that efforts are ongoing to rescue the remaining victims and restore calm. The incident adds to a growing wave of insecurity in communities within Kwara North, where farmers have faced repeated attacks in recent months.

Residents have called on the Kwara State Government and federal authorities to strengthen security presence in rural communities to protect farmers and prevent further attacks.
