US Congress Condemns Abduction of Worshippers in Kaduna Churches

By Erewunmi Peace

The United States Congress, through the House Committee on Foreign Affairs, has condemned the recent abduction of Christian worshippers from churches in Kaduna State, Nigeria.

In a statement, U.S. lawmakers expressed deep concern over the attack on congregants in Kurmin Wali and surrounding areas, where gunmen reportedly kidnapped over 160 Christians during church services.

The committee reiterated that such violence and religious persecution are unacceptable and must be addressed immediately.

The statement emphasized that the U.S. will not tolerate attacks on innocent civilians and called on the Nigerian government to take swift action to rescue the victims and bring the perpetrators to justice.

The abduction has drawn nationwide and international attention, with local authorities working alongside security agencies to secure the release of the worshippers. Religious organizations within Nigeria have also condemned the attacks and called for heightened protection of churches and places of worship.

This marks one of the largest coordinated abductions from religious institutions in Kaduna State in recent years, highlighting ongoing concerns over security and the safety of citizens in the region.
