You Can’t Lead PDP and Support Tinubu — Ulasi Criticises Wike Amid Party Crisis

By Erewunmi Peace

A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dan Ulasi, has criticised the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, over his political alignment, stating that one cannot claim leadership within the PDP while supporting a government led by another party.

Ulasi made the remark during a recent interview, where he addressed the ongoing internal challenges within the PDP and the actions of some party members.

According to him, he had previously told Wike that it is inconsistent to position oneself as a key figure in the PDP while openly backing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The statement highlights the growing tension within the opposition party, as disagreements continue over loyalty, direction, and political alliances following the 2023 general elections.

Wike, a prominent figure in the PDP, has been at the center of controversy due to his perceived closeness to the ruling party, a development that has drawn mixed reactions from party stakeholders.

Political analysts believe such divisions could affect the party’s cohesion and strategy ahead of future elections if not properly addressed.

Further reactions are expected as discussions around party unity and leadership continue within the PDP.
