Presidency Releases Details of Ribadu’s Meeting With U.S. Vice President, Secretary of State

The Presidency has released details of a high-level diplomatic and security meeting involving Nigeria’s National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, and senior United States officials, including the U.S. Vice President and the Secretary of State.

According to an official statement, the meeting took place in Washington, D.C., during Ribadu’s recent working visit aimed at strengthening bilateral security cooperation between both countries.

Discussions reportedly focused on counterterrorism efforts, intelligence sharing, defence collaboration, and broader regional security challenges affecting West Africa and the Sahel region.

The Presidency stated that Ribadu conveyed President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to deepening Nigeria–U.S. security relations and enhancing joint efforts to address emerging security threats.

It was also noted that both countries reaffirmed their shared interest in promoting stability, combating terrorism, and improving intelligence coordination between their security agencies.

The engagement is part of ongoing diplomatic efforts to strengthen international partnerships in addressing security concerns within the region.

Further details are expected as both countries continue to build on the outcomes of the meeting.
