Tinubu Appoints Kunle Elebute as Chairman of Financial Reporting Council Board

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of Kunle Elebute as the Chairmanh of the Governing Board of the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria (FRCN).

The appointment was announced in a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, on Thursday.

According to the statement, Elebute is a former Chief Executive Officer of KPMG Nigeria and also previously served as Chairman of KPMG Africa, bringing decades of experience in accounting, audit, and corporate governance to his new role.

The Presidency said the appointment is aimed at strengthening corporate governance, improving transparency, and boosting investor confidence in Nigeria’s financial reporting system.

Elebute is widely regarded in the financial sector for his expertise in risk management, advisory services, and institutional reforms, having worked with major organisations across Nigeria and beyond.

The Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria is a regulatory body responsible for setting and enforcing standards in accounting, auditing, actuarial practices, valuation, and corporate governance in the country.

Officials expressed confidence that his appointment will support ongoing reforms in Nigeria’s financial sector and enhance compliance with international best practices.

As of the time of filing this report, further details on his official assumption of office were yet to be disclosed.
