Fresh cracks have emerged within the OK Movement, a political support group promoting the proposed Peter Obi–Rabiu Kwankwaso alliance ahead of the 2027 presidential election, following a leadership dispute that has reportedly unsettled key figures in the coalition.

The crisis was confirmed by Ladipo Johnson, spokesperson to former Kano State Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso, during an interview with ARISE News. Johnson described the disagreement as a “distraction”, revealing that Peter Obi was unhappy with the situation but remained committed to the broader coalition project.

According to Johnson, the dispute stems from disagreements between some members of the OK Movement and its leadership over the direction and management of the support group. He warned against unilateral actions by members, saying such moves could create divisions and weaken the coalition’s preparations for the 2027 elections.

Despite the internal disagreements, Johnson expressed confidence that the crisis would not derail the proposed Obi–Kwankwaso alliance. He encouraged the various support groups backing the ticket to work together toward a common objective rather than engage in activities that could undermine the opposition’s efforts.

The development comes as political realignments continue ahead of the 2027 general election, with opposition figures seeking to strengthen cooperation and present a united front against the ruling party. Political observers say how the coalition resolves its internal challenges could influence its prospects in the coming election cycle.
