‘Kill Accord’ Video Was Edited; What I Said Was ‘We Will Retaliate’ If Killings of Our Members Continue — Fadahunsi

Senator Francis Fadahunsi, representing Osun East Senatorial District, has denied threatening members of the Accord Party with violence, saying a viral video in which he appeared to call for their killing was edited and taken out of context.
Fadahunsi said the statement attributed to him was not a call for anyone to be killed. According to him, what he actually said was that, “if anyone kills our people again, we will retaliate.”
The controversy emerged after a video circulated online in which the senator was reportedly heard making comments that were interpreted as a threat against Accord Party members ahead of the Osun governorship election.
Fadahunsi has now argued that the circulated footage did not present the complete context of his remarks. He maintained that his comments were made in response to alleged attacks and killings involving members of his political camp.
The senator’s clarification comes amid heightened political tension in Osun ahead of the election, with rival parties trading allegations over violence, intimidation and electoral misconduct.
Fadahunsi also clarified that his use of the phrase “kill Accord” was intended in an electoral sense, referring to defeating the party through votes rather than physically harming its members.
The controversy has nevertheless renewed concerns about the language used by political leaders during election campaigns, particularly in an already tense electoral environment.
Fadahunsi’s explanation is expected to generate further debate over the original video, its context and the meaning of his remarks.
