President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has announced that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has recovered assets worth more than ₦500 billion and secured over 7,000 convictions within the last two years.
The President made the disclosure while speaking through his representative at a workshop organized on anti-corruption reforms in Abuja. Tinubu commended the EFCC for its efforts in combating economic crimes and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to transparency and accountability in governance.
“The EFCC has recorded over 7,000 convictions and recovered assets in excess of ₦500 billion over the last two years. This is a clear demonstration of our resolve to rid Nigeria of corruption,” Tinubu said.
He added that the government would continue to strengthen legal and institutional frameworks to ensure that corruption cases are handled swiftly and offenders are brought to justice.
The EFCC, under the leadership of Ola Olukoyede, has intensified its operations across all sectors, targeting internet fraud, public sector graft, and money laundering activities.
Tinubu assured Nigerians that no ally or political associate would be shielded from prosecution, emphasizing that “the law is no respecter of persons.”
