Gunmen Kidnap Kwara Monarch, Son in Palace Attack

Armed gunmen have abducted a traditional ruler in Kwara State and one of his sons following an attack on the monarch’s palace in the Ifelodun Local Government Area of the state.
The incident reportedly occurred late on Tuesday night, December 31, when the assailants stormed the palace, shooting sporadically before forcefully taking the monarch and his son away to an unknown destination.
Eyewitness accounts indicate that the attackers gained access to the palace after overpowering local security and vigilante operatives stationed in the area.
During the attack, the monarch’s wife was reportedly injured by a gunshot and was rushed to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. Her condition is said to be stable.
The abducted traditional ruler has been identified as the monarch of the community, while his son is believed to be a corps member serving under the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).
As of the time of filing this report, the Kwara State Police Command has been informed of the incident, and security operatives have commenced efforts to rescue the victims and apprehend the perpetrators.
Authorities are yet to release an official statement detailing the circumstances surrounding the attack.
