A retired Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP), Isiagu Joseph, has alleged that he was assaulted and humiliated by a serving police officer in Lagos while driving a commercial korope bus months after his retirement.

Joseph, who retired from the Nigeria Police Force recently, told reporters that he resorted to driving a commercial bus due to insufficient pension payments. He said the incident occurred on January 8, 2026, at Alausa Secretariat, where a serving inspector reportedly insulted and physically assaulted him.

According to Joseph, the officer called his new occupation “an insult to the force” and tried to remove his bus from the road. He said he showed his police identification card to prove his service, but was allegedly dragged out of the vehicle and had the bus’s number plate removed.

Joseph said he reported the incident to the Lagos State Police Command, but as of now, the officer allegedly involved has not been identified or disciplined. He also called for justice and accountability for retired officers who face harassment.

The retired officer’s case highlights ongoing concerns about the welfare of retired police personnel, particularly regarding pension adequacy and treatment by serving members of the force.
