Prof. Iyabo Obasanjo-Bello has officially declared her intention to contest the 2027 Ogun State governorship election, expressing confidence in her vision for the state’s development.
Speaking during a media interaction in Abeokuta, Obasanjo-Bello outlined her plans to focus on economic growth, industrial expansion, and job creation if elected. She emphasized her commitment to building a more prosperous and inclusive Ogun State.
During the event, she also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his economic reforms, noting that recent policy changes are aimed at stabilizing the economy and encouraging long-term growth.
According to her, such reforms, though challenging, are necessary steps toward national economic recovery.
Obasanjo-Bello, a former senator who represented Ogun Central, said her governorship ambition is driven by a desire to strengthen governance, improve infrastructure, and expand opportunities for residents of the state.
Political observers say her declaration adds a new dynamic to the anticipated 2027 political landscape in Ogun State, as more aspirants are expected to formally declare their intentions in the coming months.
