President Bola Ahmed Tinubu welcomed retired General Theophilus Yakubu (TY) Danjuma at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa on Saturday in a courtesy meeting.

The Presidency confirmed the meeting in a brief statement, though it did not disclose details of their discussions. Analysts suggest such visits usually involve consultations on national security, governance, and developmental matters.
General Danjuma, 87, served as Nigeria’s Minister of Defence from 1999 to 2003 and was Chief of Army Staff between 1976 and 1979.

Over the years, he has remained an influential figure in Nigerian politics and security affairs.

The visit underscores the administration’s engagement with senior figures and elder statesmen as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen governance and address key national issues.
