Tinubu Orders Deployment of 100,000 CNG Conversion Kits Nationwide

By Erewunmi Peace

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has directed the deployment of 100,000 Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) conversion kits across Nigeria as part of efforts to reduce the impact of rising fuel prices on citizens.

The directive was issued under the Presidential Initiative on Compressed Natural Gas (Pi-CNG), a government program designed to promote the use of CNG as an alternative fuel for transportation.

According to officials, the conversion kits will allow vehicles that currently run on petrol to be modified to operate on CNG, which is considered a cheaper and cleaner energy source.

The initiative is expected to support commercial transport operators, private vehicle owners, and businesses by reducing transportation costs and dependence on petrol.

Government officials also stated that the deployment of the conversion kits will be accompanied by the expansion of CNG refuelling stations in different parts of the country to ensure easier access for motorists.

The move forms part of the federal government’s broader strategy to provide affordable energy alternatives and ease the economic pressure caused by fluctuations in fuel prices.

Authorities say further details about the distribution process and locations for vehicle conversion will be announced in the coming weeks.
