The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has handed over $225,895 and ₦62.79 million to victims of international fraud, marking another step in its ongoing efforts to recover and restitute stolen funds.

The handover ceremony, held on March 13, 2026, involved representatives from the United States and South Africa, who received the funds on behalf of affected victims. The EFCC stated that the restitution is part of its commitment to return proceeds of financial crimes to their rightful owners, both locally and abroad.

In a statement, the EFCC emphasized that cross-border financial crimes are a key focus of the commission, and that collaboration with international partners is essential to tracking and recovering illicit funds.

This latest handover continues the commission’s track record of actively combating fraud and ensuring justice for victims worldwide.
