Operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) have arrested a suspected vandal on the Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos.

The suspect, identified as an 18-year-old, was reportedly apprehended while removing road safety studs installed along the bridge.

According to police authorities, a number of the stolen reflective studs were recovered from the suspect at the time of arrest. The operation was carried out during routine patrol aimed at safeguarding public infrastructure.

Road studs play a crucial role in enhancing visibility and guiding motorists, especially at night and during adverse weather conditions. Their removal poses significant risks to road users and can increase the likelihood of accidents.

The Lagos State Police Command has reiterated its commitment to protecting public infrastructure and warned against acts of vandalism, noting that offenders will be prosecuted in accordance with the law.

The suspect is expected to be charged to court following the conclusion of investigations.
