62 Nigerians Detained in Uganda Over Unauthorized Church Activities, Immigration Violations
By Erewunmi Peace
Ugandan authorities have detained 62 Nigerian nationals over alleged involvement in unauthorized church activities and violations of immigration regulations.
The arrests were carried out during an enforcement operation in parts of Kampala and the Adjumani District, where officials reportedly discovered the group operating without the necessary permits.
According to reports, the individuals were found to be engaged in religious activities without proper authorization, while some were also accused of residing and working in the country without valid documentation.
Authorities stated that the operation was part of efforts to enforce immigration laws and regulate unapproved activities within the country.
The detained individuals are currently undergoing immigration processing, which may lead to deportation or further legal action depending on the outcome of investigations.
The development has raised concerns about compliance with foreign regulations by nationals abroad, as well as the need for proper documentation when engaging in religious or professional activities in other countries.
Further updates are expected as Ugandan authorities continue their investigations into the matter.
