Tinubu’s Education Policies Reducing Financial Barriers to Schooling, Minister Says

By Erewunmi Peace

The Minister of State for Education, Professor Suwaiba Sa’id Ahmad, has stated that the Federal Government’s education support programmes are helping to reduce financial barriers preventing students from accessing education.

She made the remarks while highlighting ongoing education reforms and intervention initiatives introduced under the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

According to the minister, programmes such as the Nigeria Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) are providing financial assistance to students in tertiary institutions and helping more young Nigerians pursue higher education.

She explained that the student loan initiative was designed to support individuals facing financial difficulties and ensure that lack of funds does not stop qualified students from continuing their education.

The minister also noted that the government remains committed to expanding access to quality education through policy reforms and targeted support programmes.

NELFUND was introduced as part of the Federal Government’s efforts to improve educational access and ease the financial burden on students across the country.

The comments have generated discussions among education stakeholders, with supporters praising the intervention while others maintain that broader economic challenges still affect many families and students nationwide.
