The Oyo State Government has suspended school excursions, field trips, inter-school competitions, and other outdoor academic activities across the state due to rising security concerns.

The directive, issued through the Ministry of Education, applies to both public and private schools and takes immediate effect until further notice.

According to the government, the decision was taken as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of students, teachers, and school personnel amid recent security challenges affecting parts of the state.

Officials stated that previously approved excursions and outdoor school activities have also been cancelled pending further security assessments.

The government explained that the safety and welfare of students remain a top priority, especially following recent incidents of kidnapping and insecurity reported in some communities.

School authorities were advised to strictly comply with the directive while security agencies continue efforts to strengthen protection around educational institutions.

The development has generated reactions from parents and education stakeholders, many of whom described the move as necessary under the current security situation.

The state government reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding schools and maintaining a secure learning environment for students across Oyo State.
