Africa’s leading all-in-one financial services platform, Moniepoint, has announced a ₦3 billion investment to establish innovation hubs across three major Nigerian federal universities over the next three years, in what it describes as a long-term commitment to strengthening youth-driven technology development in the country.

The initiative will see the creation of Moniepoint Innovation Hubs at Obafemi Awolowo University, University of Nigeria Nsukka, and Ahmadu Bello University, with the institutions selected to ensure balanced regional representation and wider access to innovation opportunities across the country.

According to the company, the hubs are designed as practical training and incubation centres where students will gain hands-on experience in software engineering, artificial intelligence, robotics, data science, product design, and entrepreneurship, regardless of their academic background, with a strong focus on employability and real-world problem-solving.

The initiative was formally unveiled at a launch event held at Obafemi Awolowo University in Ile-Ife, attended by vice-chancellors of the participating universities, industry leaders, alumni, and student representatives, where Moniepoint Co-founder and CEO Tosin Eniolorunda said the project reflects a desire to give back to the institutions that helped shape many technology leaders.

Speaking at the event, university leadership, including the Vice-Chancellor of Obafemi Awolowo University, Professor Adebayo Simeon Bamire, described the partnership as a significant boost for innovation and student development, while Moniepoint also emphasized that the hubs will integrate mentorship, curriculum support, internship placements, and direct engagement with engineers, product managers, and industry experts.

The company added that the programme builds on earlier education-focused interventions, including STEM and engineering support initiatives, and aligns with its broader mission of expanding Africa’s digital economy by investing in both financial infrastructure and the human capital required to sustain long-term innovation and economic growth.
