Atiku Wins ADC Presidential Primary With About 1.8 Million Votes

Former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar, has emerged as the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) ahead of the 2027 general elections after winning the party’s presidential primary election.

Atiku secured victory in the primary after polling approximately 1.8 million votes, defeating other aspirants, including former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, and Mohammed Hayatu-Deen.

The result was announced at the party’s collation centre in Abuja following the conclusion of voting by delegates from across the country.

According to party officials, the exercise was conducted to select the party’s flagbearer for the 2027 presidential election and was observed by party stakeholders and delegates.

Atiku, who previously served as Nigeria’s Vice President from 1999 to 2007, is now expected to lead the ADC into the 2027 general elections.

His emergence marks another attempt by the former presidential candidate to secure Nigeria’s top political office after several previous bids.

As of the time of filing this report, reactions from other aspirants and political stakeholders were still being awaited following the announcement of the results.
