A former spokesman of the Nigerian Defence establishment and his wife have reportedly been abducted by armed gunmen in Katsina State, according to early security reports.

The incident was said to have occurred along a highway in the state when the victims were ambushed by the attackers, who opened fire during the operation.

Sources indicated that the driver of the vehicle sustained gunshot wounds but managed to escape from the scene, while the former military officer and his wife were taken away by the gunmen.

Security operatives are yet to release an official statement confirming the identities of the victims or providing full details of the incident at the time of filing this report.

Local authorities are reportedly working alongside security agencies to track the abductors and rescue the victims.
