APC Assures of Increased Women Representation and Participation in Governance

By Peace Erewunmi

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has reaffirmed its commitment to increasing the participation of women in governance and leadership positions across the country.

Speaking during an engagement with women leaders of the party, APC National Chairman, Nentawe Yilwatda, emphasized the important role women play in national development and party politics.

He described women as vital contributors to the growth and success of society, noting that their involvement in governance would strengthen democratic institutions and promote inclusive leadership.

According to him, the APC is determined to create more opportunities for women to occupy elective and appointive positions at both the state and national levels.

“Women are the flowers, not just of our homes, but of our country. When flowers are planted around a house, they bring colour and fragrance. You have brought those qualities to our great party,” he said.

Yilwatda further stated that the party intends to increase the number of women in State Houses of Assembly, the National Assembly, and other strategic leadership positions across the country.

He commended female members of the APC for their loyalty, dedication, and contributions to the growth of the party, assuring them that their efforts would continue to be recognized.

The APC chairman also called for greater support for policies and initiatives aimed at empowering women politically, economically, and socially.

The assurance comes amid growing calls for increased female representation in Nigeria’s political space and decision-making processes.

Political observers say greater inclusion of women in governance could help strengthen democratic participation and promote broader representation of citizens’ interests.
