A Nigerian Army officer has recorded a historic achievement after emerging as the first International Fellow to win the highest academic writing honour at the United States Army War College.

Colonel TG Ajato received the prestigious Frank Kelly Writing Award during the institution’s 2026 graduation ceremony held in Carlisle, Pennsylvania.

According to reports, the officer graduated with honours after distinguishing himself among hundreds of senior military officers and strategic leaders participating in the academic programme.

In addition to the award, he completed a Master’s Degree in Strategic Studies, further highlighting his academic and professional accomplishment.

The achievement has been celebrated as a milestone for Nigeria’s military education and international representation.

Reports also indicated that the officer contributed to academic activities within the institution through materials that supported examination preparation and learning processes.
