Rescue Abducted Oyo Children, Teachers in 72 Hours — House of Reps Caucus Tells Tinubu

By Peace Erewunmi

A caucus of the House of Representatives has urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to ensure the rescue of abducted schoolchildren and teachers in Oyo State within 72 hours, amid rising concern over insecurity in parts of the country.

The lawmakers condemned the abduction and described it as a disturbing escalation of attacks on educational institutions, stressing that urgent action is needed to secure the safe return of the victims.

They called on security agencies to intensify ongoing rescue operations, improve intelligence gathering, and strengthen coordination across affected communities to prevent further incidents.

The caucus also appealed for swift intervention from the federal government, noting that the safety of schoolchildren and teachers must remain a top national priority.

In recent weeks, there has been increased public concern following a series of abductions targeting schools and rural communities, prompting renewed calls for stronger security measures across vulnerable areas.

Security authorities are yet to provide a full update on the rescue efforts, but operations are reportedly ongoing in coordination with state and federal agencies.

As of the time of filing this report, families of the abducted victims continue to await updates as pressure mounts on government authorities to ensure their safe return.
