Jubilation as Kidnappers Release Pregnant Woman, Others After Igboho’s Two-Hour Ultimatum

By Peace Erewunmi

Residents of Igboho town in Oyo State erupted in celebration after a kidnapped family, including a pregnant woman, her children, and a sibling, reportedly regained their freedom following a two-hour ultimatum issued by Yoruba Nation activist, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho.

The victims were said to have been abducted by suspected kidnappers who allegedly demanded a huge ransom for their release. The incident generated tension within the community and sparked widespread concern among residents.

In response, Igboho convened a meeting with community leaders and Fulani representatives, where he issued a stern warning, insisting that the abducted victims must be released within two hours. He declared that no ransom would be paid by the victims’ family and demanded immediate action to secure their freedom.

Shortly after the ultimatum expired, reports emerged that the pregnant woman, her children, and the other abducted family member had regained their freedom. Videos circulating online showed residents celebrating and welcoming the victims back to the community.

The development triggered widespread jubilation across Igboho, with many residents expressing relief over the safe return of the abducted family after days of anxiety and uncertainty.

However, the exact circumstances surrounding the release remain unclear. As of the time of filing this report, there was no official confirmation on whether any ransom was eventually paid or whether security agencies played a direct role in securing the victims’ freedom.

The incident has once again drawn attention to the growing challenge of kidnapping and insecurity in parts of Oyo State and other regions of the country, with residents calling for stronger security measures to protect lives and property.
