Fayose Threatens to Teach Makinde Political Lesson Ahead of 2027

By Peace Erewunmi

Former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has declared that Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, will be taught a political lesson ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Fayose made the remarks during an interview on Channels Television, where he accused Makinde of undermining political structures and betraying the trust of key stakeholders within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

According to the former governor, his disagreement with Makinde stems from the Oyo governor’s handling of party affairs in the South-West region. Fayose alleged that Makinde weakened the PDP’s regional structure and took over political networks built by other party leaders.

In a strongly worded statement, Fayose warned that political consequences await those who fail to respect established relationships and agreements within the party. He insisted that loyalty and fairness remain essential elements of political leadership.

The former governor also criticized Makinde’s presidential ambition, suggesting that it contributed to the breakdown of trust among some party members. He maintained that while every politician has the right to pursue higher office, such ambitions should not come at the expense of political allies.

Fayose further used a metaphorical reference to “the land of the deities,” claiming that what belongs to others would eventually be reclaimed, a remark that has since generated reactions across political circles.

His comments underscore the continuing tensions within the PDP in the South-West as political alignments and rivalries begin to shape preparations for the 2027 elections. Political observers believe the dispute could influence future party dynamics in the region.

As of the time of filing this report, Governor Makinde had not publicly responded to Fayose’s latest remarks.
