“They Surrounded My House at Midnight” — Father of Alleged Fake DG Speaks on Security Raid
By Peace Erewunmi
The father of Prince Mathew Adebayo Adeniyi, the man alleged to have presented himself as the Director-General of the controversial Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), has claimed that heavily armed security operatives stormed his residence in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, in a midnight operation while searching for his son. The incident comes amid ongoing investigations into the activities of the purported council.
Speaking to journalists, Pa Adetunji Ajayi Adeniyi said the first operation occurred around 12:30 a.m. on Saturday. According to him, the operatives allegedly jumped over the perimeter fence, bent the barbed wire, broke the gate padlock, and surrounded the house before demanding that the occupants open the door.
The elderly man said he initially refused to open the door until the operatives identified themselves as government security agents. He claimed they informed him they were searching for his son, but he told them that his son was not in the house at the time of the operation.
Pa Adeniyi described the experience as traumatic, saying the manner of the operation frightened members of his family. He maintained that he had no knowledge of his son’s whereabouts and appealed to the authorities to conduct their investigation in accordance with the law while respecting the rights of innocent family members.
The search is connected to the ongoing investigation into the alleged activities of the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), an organisation the Presidency has stated is not a recognised government agency. The controversy has attracted national attention following allegations that the group used documents and representations suggesting official government recognition.
The PFIPC matter has also generated political and legal reactions, with several public figures calling for a comprehensive investigation into how the organisation allegedly interacted with government institutions before its status was challenged. Authorities have not yet released full details of the ongoing investigation.
As of the time of reporting, security agencies had not issued a detailed public statement responding to Pa Adeniyi’s specific allegations regarding the conduct of the operation. Investigations into the alleged fake council and the individuals linked to it are continuing.
